Antique Louis XVI Style Dore Bronze Mounted Parquetry Chest of Drawers
This fabulous antique chest of drawers features an inlaid star motif on front and sides, geometric chevron parquetry designs in satinwood across the entire front, and dore bronze foliate mounts which uniquely extend seemlessly across three drawer fronts. It has a rectangular shape with gentle serpentine front, and rests upon modest cabriole legs with scrolling raised feet. It is not known if the original locks are in working order, and we have no key. Drawer dovetails are machine cut. This piece dates from the late nineteenth to very early twentieth century. Condition is fair to good. Front legs are broken off but included, with major splitting and buckling of the wood to the bottom of the commode. There are considerable scratches to the top, and scratches, nicks and dents on legs and sides.
