Antique Louis XV Style Gilt Bronze Girandole Mirror

This extraordinary, large ormolu metal mirror in the French Louis XV style features a shield shape, twelve candle arms with foliate decorations and is surmounted by a sphere-shaped finial.  Glass measures 36.5" tall and 26.5" wide.  Patina is old and appears original, with some oxidation visible in spots.  There is a dent to the sphere at the top, and signs of restorations near the top and bottom.  It dates from the late 19th to very early 20th century, possibly by E.F. Caldwell.  Alloy is bronze or bronze-like alloy of the kind known to have been produced by Caldwell. Dimensions: 60" H X 37" W (152.4 cm H X 94.0 cm W).
