Antique Japanese Imari Charger

Unavailable
This large ceramic charger in the Japanese Imari style features gilded dragons and extensive raised enamel decorations. Condition is excellent. There are no losses or visible cracks, and only minimal wear to the gilding and enamel surfaces. Underside carries two blue marks under glaze, in the fashion of the Chinese Kangxi period of the Qing dynasty. This is very possibly an example of Chinese export porcelain, for Chinese makers first began copying Imari patterns as early as the eighteenth century. Additional images forwarded upon request.
