Antique, European hunting sword hanger, 18th century, circa 1750 AD. DETAILS: straight single edged blade towards to the point, stamped with the maker mark on each face, bras hilt with down-turned shell-guard cast and chased in low relief with scene of Orpheus with his lute, knuckle-guard and cap pommel decorated en suite and fluted horn grip with a brass collar. Overall length; 69,3 cm (27 ¼ in.). REFERENCES: Swords & Daggers by Frederic Wilkinson plate 90 and 91. Swords & Blades of the American Revolution by George C. Neumann page 91 and 92, these types of swords were popular in 18th century America and widely used by American infantry during the American Revolutionary War.
