Antique German Ceramic Female Portrait Plaque

Unavailable
This fabulous antique porcelain portrait plaque measures an impressive 20.5" by 16.5" by 1". It depicts a beautiful female of great importance who is adorned in a dress with cape decorated with a black eagle and ruffled white , and a heavy gold necklace bearing a cross pendant in the gothic style. The subject's figure and clothing decoration was sculpted in low relief and decorated with matte finish glazes. It weighs approximately 8 lbs. The style of the eagle is consistent with the coats of arms of Frankfurt, Heilbronn and Aachen. Condition is excellent, with no visible cracks or chips or repairs. There are some very small paint losses at the highest points which can be seen in our images. On the rear are the impressed numeric mark " 1215 " along with the letter " G " and what appears to be a maker's mark which has not been deciphered. It appears to read " JJl " or " J&L ".
