Antique French Louis XVI Style Malachite Gueridon Table
This exceptional antique Louis XVI revival table dates from the late nineteenth century and features an oval shaped green malachite top and pierced brass gallery, and what is believed to be mahogany veneer. Possibly of Russian origin. Measures: 32.75" wide, 27.25" deep, 33" high to top of gallery (83.2 cm wide, 69.2 cm deep, 83.8 cm tall). It also has extensive bronze mounts on the frieze including floral, foliate and ribbon motifs along with medallions depicting frolicking putti. The legs feature beaded molding and end in animal paw feet, and are connected with a stretcher with acanthus leaf and acorn finial in bronze. Overall condition is excellent. There are some noticeable scratches here and there to the frieze and legs, and only a few modest losses to the veneer.
In 2014 the bronze mounts were regilt. Additional images forwarded upon request.
