Antique French Ebonized Jardiniere Stand

Unavailable

This dramatic French Empire ebonized jardiniere dates from the 19th century and features its original faience plate made in Gien France. Plate is marked ""GEOFFROY Et Cie" and "GIEN". The stand features winged female dore bronze mounts at each shoulder, thin animalistic legs with stretcher holding the plate, a reticulated brass gallery along top of rectangular well (not lined), and decorative cross mounts on each side. There is damage to one leg and the stretcher where plate resides. We have all missing pieces from the stretcher to facilitate restoration. The decorative band outlining the jardiniere well is loose on one side, but could be easily repaired. The stand is a bit wobbly and we recommend repair to the leg and stretcher. Needed repairs were taken into consideration when pricing the stand. It measures 32" high, 20.5" wide and 13.5" deep.

This stand comes from the collection of Roni Steinberg Sokoloff, and resided in her former 63-acre estate in Bedford New York known as Cantitoe Farms. It was purchased by Ms. Sokoloff in the 1980s.
