ANtique electric CAT Cigar lighter with magical powers. In the 20's and 30's electric cigar lighters were considered a luxury and they were only made for a few years. This little jewel has been in our possession for many years and was used as a display piece in our store before we closed it. Many wanted it but it was never for sale until now. Better for it to be in the home of a true collector than in our cabinet where it can't be seen or appreciated. This has its original silk cord ( which I highly recommend you do NOT use). The lighter works just fine and looks as if it has hardly ever been used. Not being an expert on lighters, I can tell you that when the electric is turned on , a coil in the inside turns red and that is where you light the cigar ( sort of like a toaster). The red glow comes from the top of the barrel where the cat seems to be mystified with. I would guess this has something to do with a side show and magic because the cat is standing on a barrel of some sort that has tassels hanging from it. The lighter is bronze or brass and quite heavy and it measures 3" tall and 3" at its widest.The top reads 100/125 Volt. All the parts are original too. What a great collectors piece for everyone from tobacco collectors to science history to Magic. Because this is so valuable it will have to be insured if it leaves the US.
