Lovely blue and white Meiji period (1868 to 1912) Imari plate decorated front and back with the stencil transfer technique (recognized by lines broken up into segments). Stencils were made out of paper and were discarded after a couple of uses. This technique was used as early as the mid Edo period (1603 to 1868). The front depicts children around a tea table and the reverse border is decorated with flowers. It is marked on the underside with an incised Dai Nippon [Great Japan] mark consistent with the nationalism of the Meiji period (1868 - 1912). In very good condition with minor imperfections as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number. Measurements: 8.5" diameter. Item ID: 1300
