Antique Art Deco Adjustable Height Floor Lamp

Wonderful Art Deco floor lamp, with mushroom-shaped shade and adjustable height stand, circa 1930s - 1940s. This handsome retro lamp adjusts in height from approximately 37 inches to 48 inches. The mushroom-shaded light is approximately 13 inches in diameter, and swings out over the base to make it a perfect chairside lamp for reading or other activities. The lamp features a round 10 inch base, which appears to be brass over an iron core, which gives the lamp great stability. The telescoping upright portion of the stand is very solid and appears to be brass. The brass or metal shade parts have a wonderful matte patina. The mushroom-shaped shade has a white interior and a coppery ring on top enclosing metal mesh through which the light glows. The shade fits on a round white enameled bowl-shaped piece which is attached to the fluted brass or metal light bulb holder. This design produces an indirect radiant light. The lamp is in good to very good condition, solid and intact, with light to moderate surface wear and aging. It has been left in its original state. There is a small shallow dent on the base. There is a silver-colored flat head screw where the light attaches to the arm which may or may not be original. The cord appears to be original and, while functional, should probably be replaced due to its age; a portion of the cord protrudes from the bottom of the bulb holder which can be fixed if the cord is replaced.
