19th century silver mounted Arabian dagger Jambiya. Details: A horn grip with silver bands decorated with bead work, a characteristic double edged blade with median ridge, a J- shaped scabbard covered on the front face by gilt silver plates, decorated overall with bead work in geometric patterns and set with red oval stones. References:a) "The Arms and Armour of Arabia in 18th-19th and 20 centuries" by Robert Elgood. b) "Les Armes Blanches du Monde Islamique" by Alain Jacob,An c)almost identical Jambiya was published in the Sotheby's catalogue of Islamic Works of Art London 16th-17th April 1985 lot number 525 at a price of GBP 350-450; this price is from 22 years ago. Overall length with the scabbard: 32 cm (12 5/8 inches). Condition: The Jambiya is in good condition and shape considering its age with signs of age and usage patina. The shine is due to the strong lighting which we use to take photographs.
