Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren have both hand signed this document! Jackson signs as President, while Van Buren signs as Secretary of State. Dated May 24th, 1830. 14-1/2 x 11 inches. Partly Printed DS. Vellum. Seal Intact. Countersigned by J. Macpherson Berrien as Attorney General. Paper and ribbon seal is intact with a few small holes, scattered wrinkling and soiling. The document is one page only! This is the signed, important page of a patent issued to Thomas R. Williams for a method of making or manufacturing felt or a substance in the nature thereof applicable to covering the bottom of vessels & other useful purposes.
