Andirons, Brass & Iron, Pierced Galleries, American, c.1780

Unavailable
A pair of c.1780-1800 American brass fireplace andirons with pierced galleries and two fireplace tools. All in good condition from the New York area with wave or scroll motive to gallery. These andirons have rich neoclassic spires with diced trim and running rope engraving. The pedastols are octagangle in form and are supported on spurred legs ending in ball feet. It is most rare to find an Ameican set of andirons of this quality together with matching tools, wich comprise an iron and brass set of tongs and an iron and brass shovel with worn bottom. The brass decoration on the andirons and tools has been hand cleaned and laquered.
