Unique African Carved Horn Ceremonial Phallic item. At the mid point it has a carved head with a face. The rest of the horn extends beyond the head so it gives the appearance of a headdress. There is animal hair whiskes that are extending from the top held in place by a knotted and wound twin.
The hair is very stiff. It could be elephant hair but I cannot say for sure. The hairs are quite dry. There is a stick of wood that is attached to the inside opening of the horn as serves as the center structure for the whisk top.
It measures 15 1/4" long.
The condition shows some wear. There are a few scratches here and there. Some of the hairs are missing exposing the wood support struture. Since it is hand carved it is not completly symetricle. I have done some research I have not been able to find another one like this to make a comparison.
