Distinctive curved butt profusely inlaid with brass and mother of pearl decoration (minor losses). Quality English flintlock with East India Company rampant lion, dated 1816. Round smoothbore 42 ½" Damascus barrel of approx. .60 calibre , ribbed on top with notch rear sight and copper front bead sight. Remnants of Islamic signature on breech. Long iron trigger guard with geometric decoration, crudely reattached in spots with what appears to be epoxy. Hardwood fullstock with decorative bone inlay, 7 brass barrel bands and two sling swivels. Original iron ramrod and leather sling (worn and flaking). Affixed to left side of butt is an old paper label with partially illegible ink inscription saying the gun came from Kobul, Afghanistan and was used against the English at the Kaibur (sic) Pass. Overall length 56".
