2006/1035 Lancaster County Neoclassic Mantel c.1800-1810

Unavailable
To a good quality Lancaster area Pennsylvania soft pine fireplace mantelpiece of the c.1800-1810 period. The arcaded shelf agrees with reeded tablets applied to the frieze. Above the tablets is a course of reeded dentilation and a moulded belt course crosses the frieze. The end tablets form capitals above larger reeded pilasters applied to the mantle legs or jambs. The exterior of the jambs is also reeded top to bottom, an interesting and unusual feature. The mantel opening is surrounded by a moulded trim containing left and right herringbone reed. The mantel has been hand cleaned of all old paint buildup, woodwork repairs have been made as necessary and a rich hand rubbed patina finish applied. Should you wish to paint the mantel, use a soft cloth with turpentine to remove any wax from the surface of the mantel prior to painting. NOTE: This mantle should be installed by your mechanic in accordance with all local fire and building codes. (#1790)
