2006/1034 Philadelphia Federal Mantel c.1800-1810

Unavailable
To a good quality early neoclassic fireplace mantelpiece having three reeded tablets applied to the plain frieze. Above and below the tablets are courses of belt work, the bottom one forming trim for the mantel jambs or pilasters. The blocked shelf is mounted with moulded trim and retains the original thin top shelf. The hearth opening and exterior are trimed with reeded sections. All in all a pleasing exmaple. The mantel has been hand cleaned of all old paint buildup, woodwork repairs have been made as necessary and a rich hand rubbed patina finish applied. Should you wish to paint the mantel, use a soft cloth with turpentine to remove any wax from the surface of the mantel prior to painting. NOTE: This mantle should be installed by your mechanic in accordance with all local fire and building codes. (#1789)
