2006 United States Mint Proof Set 10 Coins

This year's set includes all five quarters issued in 2006 through the 50 State Quarters® Program. They are Nevada "The Silver State," Nebraska "Chimney Rock," Colorado "Colorful Colorado," North Dakota "Badlands with Bison," and South Dakota "Mount Rushmore and Pheasant." The sets also include proof versions of the 2006 Golden Dollar, Kennedy half-dollar, Roosevelt dime, new "Return to Monticello" Jefferson nickel, and Lincoln cent. United States Mint proof coins are extraordinarily brilliant with sharp relief and a mirror-like background. The proofing process results in coins that feature frosted, sculpted foregrounds, giving them a "cameo" appearance. Proof blanks are specially treated, polished and cleaned to ensure high-quality strikes. The blanks are then fed into presses fitted with hand-polished dies and struck at least two times to ensure sharp, high relief.
