2004/998 Maryland Hard Pine Fan Mantel c.1800-1820
Unavailable
To a fine and rare Southern Maryland hard pine early classical revival fireplace mantelpiece. The shaped self is supported by various finely drawn mouldings. The mantel frieze is mounted with three applied tablets carved with fan paterae and supported by a moulded belt course, which forms capitals for fluted tapered columns with turned tops and bases. The two columns per jamb are footed on a moulded section above plain rectangular plinths. The mantel opening is stepped with a half round interior trim. The mantel has been hand cleaned of all old paint buildup, woodwork repairs have been made as necessary and a rich hand rubbed patina finish applied. Should you wish to paint the mantel, use a soft cloth with turpentine to remove any wax from the surface of the mantel prior to painting. NOTE: This mantle should be installed by your mechanic in accordance with all local fire and building codes. (#1608)
