2003/974 Richmond Virginia Neoclassic Mantel c.1800-1815

Unavailable
A fine and rare soft pine Richmond, Virginia fireplace mantelpiece. The moulded shelf is above 3 stop-fluted tablets applied to the frieze. A belt course of moulding is mounted above and below the tablets. The mantel legs or jambs retain the original tapered pilasters centered with tapered reeds. These are mounted on plain bases or plinths. The hearth opening is surrounded by a small trim section. The mantel has been hand cleaned of all old paint buildup, woodwork repairs have been made as necessary and a rich hand rubbed patina finish applied. Should you wish to paint the mantel, use a soft cloth with turpentine to remove any wax from the surface of the mantel prior to painting. NOTE: This mantle should be installed by your mechanic in accordance with all local fire and building codes. (#1501)
