To a rare neoclassic Philadelphia chimney breast constructed of white pine. This from is rarely found in the period in this area. The upper section above the mantel has a rich developed cornice above a gouge carved frieze. The center of the over mantel was originaly plasted and this is surrounded with a reeded trim section on all sides. The mantelpiece has a triple arcaded shelf above a frieze mounted with three reeded tablets and topped with a course of hand carved dentils. The tablets are footed on a moulded belt course which also forms the capitals for richley reeded pilasters footed on projected plinths. All in all a fine architectural fitment in remarkable condition. The mantel has been hand cleaned of all old paint buildup, woodwork repairs have been made as necessary and a rich hand rubbed patina finish applied. Should you wish to paint the mantel, use a soft cloth with turpentine to remove any wax from the surface of the mantel prior to painting.
This mantle should be installed by your mechanic in accordance with all local fire and building codes
