Offered for sale is a pair of beautifully hand decorated Limoges oyster plates manufactured and decorated by A Lanternier some time during the 1890's. Highlighted with a rim of gilt sprigging, these plates feature blue floral sprays with green leaves and violet tinged branches and stems. Each plate is hall-marked with an underglaze and an overglaze mark from A Lanternier, indicating that the blanks were manufactured and painted by the same firm. Each matching plate measures approximately 9 1/4" from scallop edge to scallop edge. Each plate sits on a foot rim and measures approximately 1" from table top to its highest point, and each weighs just over 1 lb. (1 plate weighs in at 461 grams, and the other at 465 grams). The pair are offered for sale for $375.
