This brass grain scale was made by A. Abraham, Liverpool operating under that name from 1851 to 1875. It was designed to measure the weight of grain per bushel by weighing small samples dictated by law in 1826. It is in its original fitted box which is in sound condition except for one missing latch. The scale is in original lacquer which shows some checking and discoloration,i.e., showing its age and use.
