Here's an early antique 19th century canoe seat/bench with remnants of old red paint. It is mortised on the ends as seen in photos. There were "nails" at either bottom end where it would fit into the canoe but I took them out so that it would be stable if one wants to use it as a display piece. This was found in the New York central lakes region. If you like country primitives, this is quite nice and different.
