To a fine quality Delaware Valley neoclassic hard pine fireplace mantelpiece of the c. 1790-1810 period. The moulded shelf is carved with diamond trim and is projected near the end to agree with two applied tablets which are gouge carved with folk art enrichment. A rich course of dentilation is also mounted below the shelf. The hearth surround is mounted with a moulded section. The mantel has been hand cleaned of all old paint buildup, woodwork repairs have been made as necessary and a rich hand rubbed patina finish applied. Should you wish to paint the mantel, use a soft cloth with turpentine to remove any wax from the surface of the mantel prior to painting.
This mantel should be installed by your mechanic in accordance with all local fire and building codes.
