To a New York State white pine and poplar fireplace mantelpiece of the circa 1810-1820 period. The shaped shelf is carved with neoclassic sunken panels as are the three applied tablets to the frieze. Above and below the tablets are rich moulded sections. The mantel jambs or legs are mounted with two round columns each, which also have capitals and bases, these stand on moulded plinths with spheroid supports. The mantel has been hand cleaned of all old paint buildup, woodwork repairs have been made as necessary and a rich hand rubbed patina finish applied. Should you wish to paint the mantel, use a soft cloth with turpentine to remove any wax from the surface of the mantel prior to painting.
This mantle should be installed by your mechanic in accordance with all local fire and building codes.
