1996/751 New York State Composition Mantel c.1810-1820

To a fine and rare pine New York state neoclassic mantel of the c.1810-1820 period, with original composition enrichments. The mantel shelf has two end projections and a central bow, all of which are moulded. Below is a course of of dentils above three applied tablets to the mantel frieze. The entire frieze is mounted with crisp composition ornament, which has been hand cleaned to save original detail. The mantel jambs or legs are mounted with terms which are footed on stepped projected plinths. The term are mounted with athenian leaves and bow knots. Above are stop fluted panels mounted with daisy paterea. The hearth trim has been renewed. Provenance: Edwin Jackson and Company, New York City. The mantel has been hand cleaned of all old paint buildup, woodwork repairs have been made as necessary and a coat of primer applied.
This mantle should be installed by your mechanic in accordance with all local fire and building codes.
