To a fine and rare white pine folk art fireplace mantelpiece removed from a large stone farm home in Warwick, Bucks county Pennsylvania. The mantel has 2 projections to the shelf which agree with swag gouge-carved tablets applied to the mantel frieze. A course of stylized dentil crosses the tablets and is located below the shelf which is further enhanced with cross like chip work design. Most interesting and rare is the central frieze area, gouge carved in diamond devices having apex centers and beautiful symmetry. The mantel legs or jambs are mounted with a cove trim section which supports the mentioned tablets. The hearth opening in trimmed with a half-round device. The mantel has been hand cleaned of all old paint buildup, woodwork repairs have been made as necessary and a rich hand rubbed patina finish applied. Should you wish to paint the mantel, use a soft cloth with turpentine to remove any wax from the surface of the mantel prior to painting.
This mantel should be installed by your mechanic in accordance with all local fire and building codes.
