This great vintage Metropolitan Life Insurance Company cook book is dated March 1957. Inside the cover of the 56 page booklet there is a table of weights and measures and oven temperatures. The table of contents lists: Beverages,Quick Breads, Yeast Breads, Soups, Fish, Meat, Poultry, Stuffings, Sauces for Meat, Fish and Vegetables, Eggs, Good and Healthy Main Dishes, Vegetables, Salads and Salad Dressings, Sandwich Fillings, Cakes, Frosting and Fillings, Cookies, Pies, Pudding and Fruit Deserts, Dessert Sauces, Can Sizes, Index. Beverages has coffee making chart and instructions to make coffee, cocoa, tea, instant beverages, iced fruit drinks and chocolate-banana milk shake. Quick bread includes: buttermilk griddle cakes, quaker muffins, apple walnut loaf, blueberry muffins, jiffy coffee cake, peanut butter loaf, cinnamon whirls and extra-crisp waffles. Yeast Breads includes: homemade white bread and rolls, loaves, pocketbook rolls, poppy seed half moons, walnut twists, Scandinavian coffee cake. Soups includes: garnishes, soup combinations,quick scallop chowder, oyster stew savarin, salad soup and Cape Cod clam chowder.
