These Murano glass beads ( sometimes called Sommerso Beads) are from the 1950's (guaranteed) and are a soft robins egg blue. THe large almost rondel shape beads are quite large ( almost 3/4" wide) have sterling silver flakes on the inside.Murano Beads made by first making a small ball of the glass and then rolling the molten glass ball across thin sheets of 24kt gold foil, 24kt white gold foil or .925 sterling silver. The bead with this foil exterior is then completed by gently melting on top of the foil transparent colors of Moretti Murano glass. If 24kt gold foil is used under the colors gives it a rich glow, enhancing the color, while the 24kt white gold foil gives the bead a softer shade of color, refined and warm. Using .925 sterling silver, the true color of the glass is brightened and becomes crisp. This is what these beads are made of. THe smaller beads have adventurine copper flakes in them. The beads are in very good condition and are accented with silver plate ( not plain silver but sterling in color) filigree spacers. The necklace has an 18" long silver plate chain and a 1 /2" long murano glass cross. THe pierced earrings are gorgeous and they measure 2 3/4" long including the top wire. THe bracelet is 8" long and it stretches to fit. This is so brilliant in color that camera could not pick up the soft blue color. THis set is in great condition.
