Carborundum Company Aloxite Brand Safety Blade Hone No. 45, patented 1927, in original box and with original instruction pamphlet dated 2-15-34, and 5 inch Aloxite sharpening stone in bottom half of original box. According to the pamphlet, Aloxite is "made from aluminum oxide, a manufactured abrasive, combines a velvety smoothness with a speed of cut. It gives the blade a keen, snooth, non-pulling edge - quicker - easier." The black safety blade hone, with its blue and silver foil label, measures about 1 3/4 wide, 2 1/2 inches long, and 3/8 inch deep, and has a hollowed side in which the blade is placed. The brown embossed cardboard box has instructions printed on the inside cover and contains the folded instruction pamphlet. The brown Aloxite sharpening stone measures about 5 inches long, 2 inches wide, and 1/2 inch deep. In raised letters in an impressed rectangle on the top of the hone is "ALOXITE, THE CARBORUNDUM CO, NIAGARA FALLS, USA." There is the remnant of a red and gold foil label on the side. The hone sits within the bottom of a blue embossed cardboard box. Please refer to the 4 photographs for general appearance and condition of these items. Shipping / packaging will be $6.00.
