1927 English Art Deco Plate Depicting Dickens' Dolly Varden

Unavailable
1927 English bone china plate, with Art Deco design depicting Dolly Varden, a beautiful young character in Dickens' "Barnaby Rudge" known for her colorful clothing. This octagonal paneled piece features a central painting, edged in gold, of Dolly Varden wearing a voluminous pink skirt, a red, blue, and yellow jacket, a violet hat with red berries, and a wonderful long yellow scarf with a blue and red geometric design. The design of the scarf is picked up in the plate's border which is also edged in gold. The plate has two handles. On the back is a faint green stamp, consisting of a crown with a difficult to read name above it, and what looks like GUARANTEED, MADE IN ENGLAND below it. In black is "R.N. 733485" (which dates it to 1927) with "Dolly Varden" in script underneath. There are also 3 small green marks on the bottom. The plate is in very good condition, with no chips or cracks; there is light surface wear and a small amount of paint loss. Please refer to the 4 photographs for appearance and condition. Shipping / packaging will be $9.00.
