Vintage 1920 Mercury RING with winged God in sterling Liberty Dime Coin Jewelry size 6 1/2

 

Part of history ( where coins were mounted into jewelry) is  this wonderful OLD 1920 ring. It  was probably made during the 40's when it would have been given to someone to celebrate a special year such as a birthday or anniversary.  I love Mercury because he was also, like Hermes, the Romans' psychopomp, leading newly-deceased souls to the afterlife. Additionally, Ovid wrote that Mercury carried Morpheus' dreams from the valley of Somnus to sleeping humans.
