14 chinese wooden statues from around 1920.
I have seen these kind of statues before in the Tropical Museum in Amsterdam. They were representing the daily life in China before. They are stuck on metal pins in the wooden baser under. They are not all completely ok, but some you can restore. The are: 1 A sedan chair. One of the sticks in the sedan chair is not long enough. At the front are 2 small pins sticking out. I think that there were 2 other men, but they have gone. If you take the small pins out, I think that nobody is missing them. There is also a man in the sedan chair. There is missing also small wooden tassel of the roof of the sedan chair. The wooden base where it is on is 4.4 centimeter by 19 centimeter. 2 A rikshaw The wooden wheels can turn. 3 A man with a piece of water melon. 4 A man with a parasol. 5 A man with a kind of house altar. 6 A man with a cow. I think he is supposed to hold a rope with the cow, but the rope is broken. 7 A man with 7 ducks. 8 A man with a fishing net, but the fishing net is a bit broken.
9 A man behind a table. I think he is a smith making a sword or someting like that.
10 This man is doing something, but I do not know what. Maybe that big round thing is supposed to be a stone and that he is making someting sharp or something else.
11 This man is doing not so fine. He has a big piece of wood around his neck and I think that he is getting punishment for something. Maybe on the wooden block around his neck is written what he has done wrong. 12 This man is not doing fine at all. They are going to cut of his head. They take him by the braid to do that. It must be a Han-chinese, They had to wear a braid till 1912 . From then we have the Republic China and then they did not need to wear a braid anymore. So maybe these statues are from around 1910. 13 This man is also not doing so fine. He has been tied on a stick and there is a stick behind on his legs, which is held down by 2 guards. !4 A small temple door. It is in a small wooden base and you can take it out. So all together 20 chinese men and so on. All very nicely cut out.
