Wood New Illustrated Natural History by Routledge, Burr House. After matriculating from Merton College, Oxford in 1844, Wood graduated B.A. in 1848, proceeding M.A. in 1851. For a time he worked under Henry Acland in the anatomical museum. In 1851 his first book, 'The illustrated natural history' was published. In 1852 he became curate of the parish of St. Thomas the Martyr, Oxford, in 1854 he was ordained priest. In 1878 Wood settled in Upper Norwood. There he continued the production of his numerous works, until he died whilst on a lecturing tour on 3 March 1889 in Coventry, where he is buried. This volume has no date that I could find, and believe it to be published shortly after his Natural History of 1852 (at least 1854 as this is Rev. J. G. Wood, M.A, F.L.S). It is a blueish green color with Gold Guild. There is Illustrations on almost every page, and covers, Animals, Birds, and Fish. One of the most comprehensive books I have seen. Designers include Wolf, Zwecker, Weir, Coleman, Harvey and others and Engraved by the Brothers Dalziel. Monkeys section is great! 795 Pages, Aprox size 7 x 10""
