White milk glass Ginger Jar, HP, OLD. This white glass ginger jar has all the signs of a pre 1900 existance. It reminds me of the Boston Sandwich glass. It is hand blown, has many imperfections in the glass & a ground top. It has a graduated top that may have originally had a wax seal to keep the top sealed to it. The base of this is in excellent condition. No chips et , the lid has a chip & the glass is starting to break apart. You can see the strawmarks & some general marks that tell me the glass is starting to craze. The base does not have this problem, it is excellent. The painting is truly done by a trained painter, many shades of blue & purple & greens & browns. It has an old patina & also has a few scratches in the paint, still remarkable. The picture showing the mouth of the jar shows an imperfection of an additional little piece of glass that is original to the jar. Aprox 5 1/2 "x 3 1/2 at largest point.
