Volkswagen Keeps Dampness Out Ad 1967 this is a March 21, 1967 advertisement. It is a nice color ad from Volkswagen of America Inc. Ad shows a red VW floating on water. It Reads, VW unique construction keeps dampness out. For years there have been rumors about floating VWs. The photographer claims this one stayed up for about 42 minutes. The bottom of the VW is not like ordinary car bottoms. A sheet of flat steel runs under the car, sealing the bottom fore and aft. This sealed bottom protects a VW from water, dirt and salt. all the nasty things on the road that eat up a car. In mint condition. Photo is taken through plastic and may show wrinkles or crookedness that is not in the ad. This original magazine tear sheet measures 9 7/8 inches wide by 13 inches tall.
