Vintage Tap & Die Set w/Wooden Box

Unavailable

This is a nice compact size tap and die set that has 3 sizes of both taps and dies, they are 1/4-20, 3/8-16, and 7/16-14.  Also included are the 9" long die wrench that also doubles as a tap wrench with the round die that has the squares in it to hold the taps.  These are all in good working order, used, but not damaged beyond use.  This set appears to have been made more for thread repair or re-threading, but the taps and dies are sharp enough to cut threads in steel.  The taps and dies are made by multipul makers in the USA, brands like ACE, HANDY, BUTTERFIELD and SHARPCUT.....  The wrench has no name on it.

The box measures 10" x 3" x 1.3", is solid with a working slide top.  There is signs of minor repairs over the years, but is clean and still looks pretty nice.  The top slides in and out smoothly, a bit snug, and the inside tray is removeable, meaning it is not glued in place.
