Vintage / antique English teapot, in black glaze over red clay, handpainted with lots of gold decoration and thickly applied turquoise, white, and orange enamel or slip (liquid clay). This charming teapot measures about 5 inches high, including the lid, and 7.75 inches from spout to handle. On the bottom is "MADE IN ENGLAND" and "No. 7" painted in gold, along with an orange symbol which may be the signature of the painter. This piece is in good, usable condition. There is some surface wear and loss of shine, gold, and color. There is a small amount of shallow chipping at the spout opening and around the top rim.
