Vanity Item(s)/Volupte Compact/Circa
A beautiful Volupte compact that does not appear to have ever been used. It has it's puff with signiture and a faux suede slip case. I do not know if the slip case was original to the compact. It has the "Swing Lok" closure. A Volupte compact with this "Swing Lok" closure is on page 46 of Laura Mueller's "A Collector's Encyclopedia of Campacts, Carryalls and Powder Boxes". The opposite page shows an ad dated 1948 from Harper's Bazaar, with a compact with a chevron design and the same "Swing Lok" closure. The mirror in the compact is good. I have another Volupte compact from 1938 that was never used and the mirror looks almost the same. I do not think they used very expensive mirrors in thier compacts. It measures aprox. 2 7/8" square X 3/8" deep.
