Louis XVI Bronze Mantel Clock from Autray of Paris

Unavailable

Our mantel clock in the Louis XVI style from Autray of Paris features an alabaster stone base set on toupie bronze feet, bronze mounts including patinated putti in soldier's attire and cupid with bow, surmounted by a pair of doves and a flaming torch, 8 day spring movement.  Please note, we do not guarantee the working order of clocks, as they almost always will require adjustment by a professional horologist following shipping. Given the complete movement, it certainly could be put into a working order by a professional horologist.

In Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World by G.H. Baillie (Published by N.A.G. Press LTD. London, 1947), it is said the Autray firm was founded by Francois Autray in 1737. In 1784 Claude Autray operated the firm 1784-1789, and from 1809 to 1825 the firm was known as Autray Fils, operating on Rue d'Aboukir in Paris.
