Better Homes Auger Bit Brace 10 inch Germany

$32.00
Quantity available: 1

This is a good used antique 10" swing ratchet brace marked "BETTER HOMES MADE IN GERMANY" on the drill chuck sleeve, and there is also a faded "BETTER HOMES" shield sticker on the end handle.  This is a rare one.  Was most likely made in Germany for retail in U.S.A. in the 1930's era.  It is light duty, has a clockwise and counterclockwise ratchet adjuster lever, a non-spring loaded chuck jaws (open by pushing the taper end drill bit into the opening, then tightening it as needed).  It has hardwood handles with a rosewood type stain, both turn freely and are in nice shape overall.  The overall condition is no damage, not bent, ratchet works great and chuck was tested and holds taper-ended auger bits up to about 1" size very nicely.  No rust, some minor bare metal darkening or staining.  The brace is 12.5" long overall, 5" from chuck center to swing handle center.

We never seen a "BETTER HOMES" brand on a Germany made tool before.  Considered rare.
