Trimont Pipe Wrench 18 inch Trimo 1918 Patent
This is a very nice, antique 18" adjustable pipe wrench, marked "TRIMO TRIMONT MFG. CO. ROXBURY MASS. U.S.A. 18 TRIMO ALLOY MARK SIZE 18 DROP FORGED PAT'D 3-5-18"" on the handle area, and " TRIMO PATENTED SIZE 18" on the moving jaw. In good++ condition with minimal wear, no rust, good straight metal and gears. The jaw teeth and edges show very little wear, and the jaws align well with one another, teeth sharpness is very good! Overall, a very carfully used antique wrench by the looks of it! The knurled thumbwheel design works great as it incorporates a pair of stamped steel U shaped washers, (formed to fit into the knurl wheel for smoother operation) that helps the thumb wheel turn much easier, and also guides the moving jaw better) than those without this feature. The washer is formed to fit into the main casting and the knurl wheel next to it, so it doesn't spin round and round. A very nicely designed hard to find size, nice clean wrench, from the early 1920's era. Measures 16.5" long (completely closed) even though it is marked 18" on the wrench, and the jaws are 7/8" wide. This wrench is one of the nicest we have seen in the past 10 years. We have seen some that were either painted or Japanned, this one has about 80% black Japanning intact. A favorite amoung pipe fitters, known as one of the best pipe wrench patented designs at the time, and in my opinion still is.
