Atkins No. 51 Silver Steel Hand Saw 12 TPI

Unavailable

This is a fine example of a rarely seen, quality made polished silver steel 24 inch long blade, finish hand saw from the 1930's era! It has a very nice etch on the 24" long blade, marked "E.C. ATKINS & CO. SILVER STEEL A1 WARRANTED MADE IN INDIANAPOLIS IND. U.S.A. PATENTED JULY 7-1896 NO. 51", in and around the round logo. The etching is faded to some extent, and is even harder to focus the camera on the bright shiny finish around it, but in the proper lighting can be read.  The blade has 12 teeth points per inch, is sharp, no damage, ready to use. (you may wish to give it a light sharpening before use).  The handle is a darker fruitwood, with wheat type carving on one side, and nickel plated fittings, that have some brass showing through in wear areas, a few ting dings or scratches noted on the fittings. The medallion is marked with the Atkins triple AAA logo, and reads, "E. C. ATKINS & CO. PATENTED DEC. 27, 1887 INDIANAPOLIS IND." around logo. The handle is about 95% like new with minor scratches, and on the side opposite the carving and a scribed 0 on both sides, an owner's mark, no chips or cracks. A rare example of a quality made finish hand saw!
