Tiffany & Co. Gothic Revival Bronze Plant Stand / Side Table - Dated 1860

$3,400.00
Quantity available: 1

Our client's antique (late 19th century) Austrian tripod bronze plant stand or side table in the Gothic Revival style, retailed by Tiffany, has a circular top depicting a double-headed eagle in shield in center, dragons and elks along the border and 1860 date, with two matching stretchers and legs wrapped with bird-like griffins and scrolling feet.  29 inches tall and 14 inches across.  Underside with the worn mark of the foundry and side of one leg with the stamped worn mark, TIFFANY & Co.

Decorated with the double eagle mark and year, 1860, this table appears to mark the year Emperor Franz Joseph's so-called neo-absolutist regime collapsed following military defeat in Italy.  His October Diploma introducing a conservative federalist constitution helped him regain support of the Austro-Hungarian empire.

In good condition with rubbing wear to the patina, surface dirt, scuffs and scratches, and scattered light areas of verdigris in crevices.
