Small Fris Studio Dutch art pottery hand thrown vase, circa 1950's-1960's or earlier. The Fris pottery factory was established in Gouda in 1943, and moved to Edam in 1947. The factory produced both functional and luxury pottery, and the pottery became known for its shapes, shaded glazes, and artistically pleasing appearance. Most early pottery was hand thrown. The factory closed in 1969. This piece measures about 3.75 inches high and 3 inches in diameter. It is a pale gray with shades of yellow and brown; the glaze is glossy and very smooth. Incised on the bottom is "Studio fris, made in holland, 512". Excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, and minimal surface wear. Shipping / packaging will be $10.00.
