This is a clean boxwood & brass folding ruler marked "STEPHENS & CO. RIVERTON CT. NO. 42". This rule is in very nice shape overall, only a few minor stains and very minor edge wear to report. The joints and all the brass are in very good condition, with very little wear, the center joint holds position very well, opened or closed, and all the alignment pins are in place. A hard to find collectible from the 19th century! Stephens & Co. was in business from 1828-1901 when they became part of the Chapin-Stephens company.
