Starrett Extended Divider No. 85 Pat. 1889
This is a nice clean Starrett No. 85 Improved Extended Divider marked, "L.S. STARRETT CO. ATHOL MASS. U.S.A. PAT. SEPT. 24 1889". As you can see the Starrett mark on this tool is the early mark that was in effect before the 1910 new name change to "The L.S......". This is a hard to find model design to scribe precision radius and circles up to about 24", plus with the pair of caliper arms, one can also measure outside and maybe certain inside measurements. This one is in good condition, all the adjustmentS work fine the scriber points are sharp and ready to use. Nice quality, about the best divider availiable in the late 1800's era when it was made. The dividers measure from 8-12" depending on how the various removable tips are positioned. All four removable tips are most likely newer than the divider main body, but all fit well and can be snugged up into many positions. Though there is some minor wear and light finish flaws, there is no damage and all parts function well.
