Stanley Carpenters Ratchet Brace No. 919 Lakeside

$40.00
Quantity available: 1

This is a very nice, clean, early 1900's ratchet hand brace, and it has a 10" swing. It is only marked "LAKESIDE MADE IN U.S.A." on the solid steel part of the ratchet system area, a trade name used by Montgomery Wards (retailer), the brace is actually made by Stanley Tools, model number 919. The chuck design is very similar to the design used by (PECK, STOW, & WILCOX Co.) manufactured in this same 1910's period. The ratchet system and chuck is in very good condition with nice heavy duty, spring loaded jaw insert (leaf spring type), the knurled part of the chuck or the chuck sleeve is steel with moderate wear (fully functional), very good working ratchet system as well. The head turns smoothly, capped with a very nice cocobolo handle, and the crank handle matches it very well in very good condition and appearence. The condition is good+ overall, with no rust or damage, some minor dings, and scratches, some darkened areas on the steel, the cocobolo is very clean, little wear overall. The sweep handle is also rosewood, and in very nice condition. The the head end spindle plate is ball bearing, very smooth turning. In really good working condition overall. A quality made brace, still in great shape, nice looking too!
