Unavailable

Our beautiful table lamp features hand-blown glass shades from Vandermark Merritt Glass Studios of Branchburg Township, NJ, circa 1972-1990.  In good condition and ready for use.

The firm is named after Jerry Vandermark, who apprenticed with Cark Erickson of Bremen, Ohio, beginning in 1943. In 1959 he left Erickson Art Glass to direct the Colonial Glasshouse at Jamestown, Virginia for the National Park Service. In 1972 he designed the studio and trained artists at Vandermark Glasshouse of Liberty Village in Flemington, New Jersey, a unique shopping village distinguished by its charming shops housed in individual buildings in the American Colonial style, where he specialized in the creation of Colonial era reproductions.  In 1976 his work was chosen for final show at the Corning Glass Art Society Seminar.

At some point in the 1970s he founded the Vandermark-Merrit Glass Studios with Douglass Merritt, which became known for their paperweight designs and other types of art glass, including cameo glass.  In 1982 the firm was one of two studios featured in the Coming Museum of Glass show and seminar, "2000 Years of Cameo Masterpieces".  Their works were featured in the Art Glass Society Journal of 1983-1984.  In 1985 their work was featured in the Wheaton Museum of American Glass Exhibit entitled Three Generations In Glass: Erickson, Vandermark, Merritt.  In 1986 the firm was commissioned to create hand-cut reproduction globes for the chandelier in the Renaissance Revival Room of the American Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  In 1987 they were featured in the lecture, Reproductions in America Glass, by Jane Spillman, Curator of American Glass at the Corning Museum of Glass. The firm continued to produce exceptional art glass through 2016 under the direction of Mr. Merritt.
